bazaar report

When we started going to the junction every week, all our college group went and when we got there the CRC groupd of students who do fashion and media as there course were involved in what we were planning on doing. what we started to do was planning an event for students to go to at the junction. It was going to be a big music event, but added by other things too. At first when we got to the junction when the CRC group came, we went in to one of the rooms and got put in to pairs just so we all introduced ourselves to eachother. After that we split in to three different groups as we were now going of to start planning the event. The three different groups were Marketing, Production and Promotion. When in each group everyone decided on what we should add to this event and put in to it to make it good. When we did this, after, everyone got together and we shared all our ideas together and took notes on what has been said.

Everyone was split in to three different groups as i said earlier. The three different types of groups were promotion, production and marketing. All the different groups had different mentors, theses being, simon bates, he was head of learning and access. Helen Draper was the head of marketing, and that was the group i was in so i had her for my mentor. Next was Edmund Hine he was the marketing officer and lastly was Alan bond or Gary brown, they were duty manager.

Aritcle one.

This article is the first article I made, I had chloe along side helping me with it too, we both came up with all good ideas to put on to this project. This took us about 2 lessons to make which is about 3 hours, but a good 3 hours we were working hard on. We both got all the photos and chose the ones that looked best, and the best photo that would go well with the article, once we done all that we put them together to make them look good and placed them on to the article. After we did this we thought out what to write about on the article, which took us one lesson to do, but in the end we came up with a good piece of writing to put on it.

Artifact

Faience Tiles

The Chüshingura Drama Parodied by Famous Beauties: Act Two, c.1795
Kitagawa Utamaro (c.1756-1806)

I chose this art design as one of the artifacts because I thought it looked pretty different in the way its just two chinese people wearing there chinese clothing looking at one another. It's got quite dull colours in the photo but in my opinion it give out that old look effect.

15th march - how much of this have i done?

So far I have been put into a group where we are researching fashion and clothing, we had to research a practitioner or a small company. When I was researching for what I needed to find, chloe, who is a member of the group I'm in, found this small fashion company called 'Pearl Alpaca' so I started helping her on the research of it too. From this company I had helped make an article for the Scene research.

Researching the Junction.

Things that we can remember about the junction:

1:How many performance spaces are there? What are each of them used for?

There are 3 different performance spaces. There is junction 1, which is a standing space capacity of up to 1050 spaces. Next there is Junction 2, a versatile standing or 220 seats auditorium. Lastly Junction 3 of a 20m x 10m studio space.
Junction 1 is mainly used for club nights or where they have bands performing with lots of people in there, they evan had our freshers ball in there which was really good as it was a big place. The junction 2 is where it has theatre performances or dance performances, then junction 3 is basically a little workshop used for people to rehearse performances etc.

2: What target audiences do they cater for?

The junction caters for all different audiences at all different ages. At the theatre they mainly to the performances for all ages so evan for a families to come along to but then unless its a stand up comedy for adults it would usually be for the people 18 and over. When they use Junction 1 they will usually have bands playing, e.g. fiver night, its usually people 14 and over going to watch it, then also if its just used for a club with alcohol and music, then again it will be for 18 year olds and over.

3: What do they do/offer that is different to other venues in cambridge?

Preperation for the junction

Tomorrow we are going to be speaking to a number of staff in different roles. In our group we must come up with questions to ask the staff at the junction.
we are covering the following areas:
  • Job roles and responsibilities
  • Job satisfaction
  • qualifications
  • And lastly, Training (to be able to do the job and to continue to do the job - continued professional development.
My 3 questions I am going to be asking the staff are:
  1. What is your job here at the junction?
  2. Do you enjoy working and being here at the junction throughout your working days?
  3. What qualifications did you need to be able to get this job?
I think these 3 questions are pretty good, as I know I will be receiving helpful feedback from who ever I will be talking to Tomorrow.

  • Music, club scene and dance.
  • Crafts and Fashion & clothing.

Dress Rehersal - 4th february

Yesterday we performed at the junction again, but this time it was a proper dress rehersal, as we wore out masks and our t-shirts that one of the groups had made for us to wear. We also put up the big banner me and my group made the other day for everyone to see when we actually do the real performance. To me i thought the performances went extremely well, as everyone was getting into it and enjoying doing it. When i wore the outfit i thought at first it wasn't going to look that good, but then i put the t-shirt and mask on an thought it was alright in the end. i think most of the things we did came out very successful in the end for how long it has taken over the weeks to plan an finally perform next week. If we did have more time, i think that would be far to long for the work, we had enough time overall making an rehearsing the samba performance.

Cramba things at the moment :)

Last week in our groups we had to choose:

- between performing in the Junction rehearsal room or in the square outside the Junction and in front of Cineworld.
For this we decided not to do it in these places as the amount of people and money we wouldn't get or rase here, so we decided to do the performances in cambridge at market square near the market.

- organise
costumes, choreography, and publicity.
we thought about making our clothes really bright and outstanding, so we get more noticed when playing, also we thought it looked really good with the Samba theme

- come up with a name, a logo, a bannerand posters, etc.
We came up with a name being "CraMBa" as its 'Cram" from our group, then 'Ba' from samba!
the logo was made by matt, which came out really well, then later on me and katie made posters which came out nicethis is the poster that i made my self , using photoshop.

Samba - cambridge research project

Samba is a Brazilian dance and music genre, when the samba is going on, the way the band member interact with each other is they use signals to each other, quite like sign language, using there hands, facial expressions and maybe even a whistle some times, as it’s a high pitch sound which you could hear easily when the band is playing. Usually the person who signals all the instructions is the main person at the front, leading the band, he/she uses there hands mostly in different ways to show what to do next, they could put a thumbs up, wave there hands in the air, and more things like this.

The Band encourages their audience really well to be involved in what they do, they are all very enthusiastic in the band when it is going on, they jump up and down, they sway there selves side to side in a bubbly, fun way, they clap there hands. This is a good way to make the audience want to join in and be a part of the samba band. With what they wear are bright colours in there clothes, so this attracts the audience with eye catching objects.

The arrangement in this video is placed out really well, thee girls are mainly on the light instruments which make the higher pitch noises, with them being at the front, whereas the men are on the big bass drums, which are loud and very deep instruments, and they stand mainly at the back of the stage.

In this video they are all outside, so there is not any light effects, just the natural sun light out side, although that is not as good as if it was inside with good lighting, its still be well don’t, as there all wearing brightly coloured clothes which looks really good.

Todays Plan.

Todays plan is to promote my campaign, show people about it and talk to people too. today ill be going in to town first to see what people i can talk to, and see what information they have to say. after that as our audience is meant to be 16-19 year olds ill go around the college for a while and see what the pupils here have to say about the campaign.

The things ill discuss with people is to see if they have already given blood. To see if there for the giving blood, or against it. and if there against it ask them why they are, and see if i could maybe change there thoughts on it. another thing is see who has given blood already, and if they would do it again.

the way ill promote my campaign is in the nicest an formal way possible, as i think people would much more appreciate it as if i just spoke about it really boring and dull, they wouldn't be interested to talk to me.

Reflection of Monday 4th january

Today we didn't do much written work, it was more talking about whats going to happen throughout the next few terms, but mainly about whats happening this week. this week we are doing about campaigns and doing petitions on them too. and on wednesday we will have to promote our campaigns and give out leaflets, make posters and things like that.

the written work we did do, was on an A3 piece of paper we wrote out all the things we would do to promote our campaign on wednesday, a few of my ideas were...
  • make my petition, and put it on my facebook group.
  • hand out leaflets to people.
  • put up posters with information on then
  • talk to people aout what my campaign is and see if there interested in it at all.
  • where the T-shirt i made to promote the campaign.
The next thing we did was as on wednesday we have a full day of media, so we wrote out from 9am till 4:10pm on what i will do.

The first lesson was at 9am till 10:30am.
the things i wrote out were to...
  • do my petition
  • print the petition off
  • go out and see where i could set up my campaign
  • print of posters to put up
at 10:50 till 12:20, the things i wrote out to do were.
  • talk to people about my campaign, either in college or go into town.
  • give out leaflets to all the people who pass me of talk to me.
  • get all the students to sign the petition.
  • lastly, ask the pupils to join my facebook group.
Finally, at 2:40 till 4:10 is last lesson and i didnt write up much for this but i did say.
  • to look at my petition and make sure everythings correct
  • and write up on my blod how my day had went and how things were.

Thinking about poster designs.

In this lesson we had to think of two different designs for our campaign poster.
The things we had to think about that would be put on the poster were...
  • Image
  • Strapline
  • Campaign logo
  • Campaign Info
My Ideas for my two campaign posters i did were...

(ADDING THE TWO POSTERS HERE SOON)

Vox pot task

For this task we were put into groups, we had to film ourselves as if we were interviewing someone, and asking questions to people in our class or students around college about our campaigns, mine being 'Give Blood'.
In my group i had chloe, leanne, sunny, katie and matt. they all worked well as a group i thought.

My 3 campaign questions.

Here are 3 campaign questions i have to asked people if i was going to interview them.

  1. have you ever given blood
  2. if not, would you ever consider giving blood?
  3. what are your opinions about giving blood?
I chose these 3 questions as i think i would get alot of feedback which would help me later on.

A lesson in the week.

A couple of weeks ago we had a lady come in to our college who came in to our classroom and did a talk on making us think of different ways to make a campaign. she taught us quite alot in that lesson about campaigns and what are good adavantages and dissadvantages on them.

  • She showed us ways to get our information across to people, and how sometimes using things like leaflets are not as good as you thought they would be to get across, whereas a facebook blog can me sometimes better to use in what kind of campaign you are doing.
  • she showed us a slideshow in the classroom of how much effort and time it take to actually put in to campaigns. Also about the campaign of 02, which was really good as it showed how it was put out to people in so many different ways. it was really well put out to the class which was really good.
  • she then spoke about the NHS, and that campaign in how many different jobs there are in a hospital aswell. after that we had to do a task for her. which was done in groups, there were all different groups, being receptionist, doctors etc, but our group was about nurses in how they could make the patients feel better.
  • In this task we worked well as a group and came up with a good poster. that had bright colours to stand out to people. bold writing that would make people read it, and the logo for them to know what the campaign is from and lastly an image for people to look at.
overall i really enjoyed this lesson, i got taught alot which has helped me. and also it was something different for the class.

Todays work - 25th november

In todays lesson, i got out my stencil to cut out, and started cutting it out, but then i thought about it and i realised it was only going to be done with one colour, which was red, but i thought thats just to plain, so i changed my idea and made it so i have two colours red and black, black being the writing and red for the blood drips. so i went and found steve, so print me of another stencil so i would for both colours. I finally did all that and it came to the end of the lesson.

Todays work - monday 23rd nov.

Today we wrote down all what was going to happen through the week.
then we wrote on a purple sheet of what we needed to do over the week, that we will get done.
lastly i went on my blog , and updated everything i needed to get done, and i got it all done apart from one thing , which i am happy about. so that went well and im glad.

i dont think i could have done anything differently, i did all what i needed and wanted to do to get done, so thats what im quite happy about.

tommorows work i will do my photoshop design, as i need to get that done, printed of so then i can do the stencil and make my t-shirt design.

overall i thought it was a good lesson, and i learnt alot and got things done.

Research and PowerPoint/Keynote.

'News night special on blood sweat and T-shirts'
Watching the video, two girls are interviewed from when they went to the country of where all cheap clothes are made. the girls who went there said it really changed the way they think and feel about the cheap clothes they wear because of how they are made, and how little money the people who make them get and also how much hard work they put into the clothe making.
The girls being interviewed were saying how weird it was to see all the workers in a small room, being all hot and stuffy, they had to look twice to actually realise that these people were making the clothes they wear, which they wasn't taking any care in.
The major brands don't want to be associated with the the very poor practices. there not doing business where the factories are in conditions where they really aren't acceptable.

Primark on the Rack.
this video shows how all the people in the shop just go crazy when there is a new store opening, and also how people are saying they'll go in to primark wear it a few times then just throw it away because its so cheap they don't care. someone also said that they went and bought something came home and realised they already had it, which show how careless people are about buying cheap clothes. when they clearly don't know how its all being made.
One thing also about this video is one item of clothing in primark was selling for £18, it was that popular, it was selling on ebay up to £175!

3 different campaigns for different people.

T-shirt design idea 1 should be a campaign that would improve the quality of your OWN LIFE.
what i said for this was, to make the week shorter at college so monday to thursday, then weekends longer so end thursday so you have friday saturday and sunday off.
T-shirt design idea 2 should be a campaign that would have a positve impact on the lives of OTHERS.
Free bus pass, all over cambridge for students.
It would be useful for students becuase if they got the train to college they could get the bus to college so there not late, or if its a cold day they could just get the bus.
This is relevent to the target audience becuase it only refers to students.

T-shirt design idea 3 should be a LIGHT-HEARTED OR HUMOROUS campaign - something that will make people SMILE.
Free lollies! its not really a worthwhile campaign it just makes people smile.

My Design

For my design, what inspired me to do it was i always the word 'sweet', its just a phrase that's stuck in my head and it sounds kind of cool, and its pretty random, so i liked it as I'm pretty random too! then i realised i loved sweets a lot and I'm so addicted to them, so this gave me the idea of the lolly to put under the word sweet.

I quite like my design i think it could be pretty successful. its not something i love a lot, i just think it's pretty good because it has one big bold word then the lolly which has the colour in it.

For the connotations, it makes me think of flavour of the lolly, i.e a strawberry flavour. also its quite playful with the colour and phrase of text.

The design i think goes quite well with the age group, but for someone who is quite indie and different with what they wear, that who i think would wear it at that age.

My design could definatly be improved. Its not a great design that i love, Its just a cool funky design i just chose to do because i liked the idea. so yes i do think there could be improvements.

Banksy

Uk street artists called Banksy. is necessity, one of the anonymity. His work is currently seen around the planet. the exception though is that no one is sure who he actually is. There have been a fair few claims to his true identity but none have ever been definate to date.
who is banksy? We don't know at all who he is or his name, but we know his art work is from a passionate individual. So what do we actually know about banksy? The art of his paintings, stencils and other pieces of art relate to serious social issues. his work creates a sence of humour, making it possible that you will probably laugh, or cast your eyes on it and really look at it in detail.

My Design and 3 other design's in the group.

These photos here show my design i made for the T-shirt. i chose this because i thought i always say the word 'sweet' and its kind of just random and something i always say i thought ill use it. then i remembered i always eat sweets, i love them , and they obviously have the same word for different meanings. so i thought this seemed pretty creative, ill use them and put them together somehow, and i did.

3 other designs that other people did that i liked the best.
There are 3 designs that 3 different people did in my group. these are the 3 i liked the most.
i think they are all pretty successful designs, they all do have things they could improve on them i.e the top left one is quite plain, it could have more of a design to it. secondly the top right design could have it more eye catching, its quite a loud saying on it 'go crazy' you would have thought it would have more of a bigger design to it. so that could be one change for the design. lastly the bottom design. It's a good design and i like it. to be honest there's not much i would change about it, maybe a big more bolder , but apart from that nothing else.

These 3 designs all go for the right target audience we were meant to go for, 16 to 19 year old students. the top right photo is more for a girl i think, and the top left, but the bottom photo would be quite a unisex design for a T-shirt, which is pretty creative.

overall they are 3 good designs that would be successful.

3rd post

This is the break down of my favourite t-shirt, it has information about the t-shirt, i.e. where its from how much it costs, why i liked it and things like that.

2nd post

i really liked this T-shirt which was of the website 'Threadless' i thought it was quite funny, and i like the brightness of the tee as it stands out which is a good eye catcher. i think this top is quite different, and humorous.
The cost of this Tee is $15 , and evan with shipping it is still the same amount.

this T-shirt i chose i quite liked out of all the t-shirts on the website , i wouldn't ever buy it though, its not that good really, it was just the only good one on the website thats why. The one thing i like about it is what it says , as im short so i found it quite funny! but as i said its not that good , its plain and simple , whereas the other top above what the women is wearing, it is much better, more creative and funny, it's definitely more of an eye catcher than this top.

1st blog

http://www.supplierlist.com/photo_images/77126/Af_women_t-shirts_Abercrombie_amd_Fitch_women.jpg
history of T-shirts is varied with great historical reconances. T-shirts are a political tool and also something to cover nudity. the history of T-shirts are to place important and life changing messages in to the public!
  • The T-shirts came from undergarments used in the 19th centery.
  • T-shirts first came popular in the united states

Since the late 1980s and especially the 1990s, T-shirts with prominent designer-name logos have become popular, especially with teenagers and young adults. These garments allow consumers to flaunt their taste for designer brands in an inexpensive way, in addition to being decorative. Examples of designer T-shirt branding include Calvin Klein, FUBU, Ralph Lauren and The Gap. These examples also include representations of rock bands, among other obscure pop-culture references.
